Class 2: (vehicle included)
Unit Standard 17574 - Level 3, 7 credits
Unit Standard 24089 - Level 3, 5 credits
To obtain your Class 2 Licence you must have held your Full Class 1 Licence for at least 6 months.
A Class 2 Licence enables you to drive a rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight of more than 6,000kg and up to 18,000kg. Refer Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999, Schedule 3.
The course consists of :
-full day logbook course (if you have not completed one for driver licensing purposes in the previous 12 months).
-half day Class 2 Learner Licence training and
sitting Class 2 Learner Licence.
-half day Class 2 theory training i.e. truck
loading, handling, stability, road user charges
etc.
-2 hours practical training and assessment.
A doctor's medical is required if you have not produced one for driver licensing purposes in the past 5 years.

Class 4: (Must supply own vehicle )
Unit Standard 17576 - Level 3, 7 credits
Unit Standard 24089 - Level 3, 5 credits
To obtain your Class 4 Licence you must have held your Full Class 2 Licence for at least 6 months (if under 25 years old) or at least 3 months (if over 25 years old).
A Class 4 Licence enables you to drive a rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight of more than 18,000kg. Refer Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999, Schedule 3.
You will need to obtain your own Class 4 Learner Licence before attending the Course. There is no test for this Licence. The licensing agency will issue it for you at a cost of $48.20.
The course consists of:
-full day logbook course (if you have not completed one for
driver licensing purposes in the previous 12 months).
-half day Class 4 theory training i.e. truck loading,
handling, stability etc. (if not completed for class 2 licence)
-3 hours practical training and assessment.

Class 5: (Must Supply Own Vehicle)
Unit Standard 17577 - Level 4, 8 credits
Unit Standard 24089 - Level 3, 5 credits
To obtain your Class 5 Licence you must have held your Full Class 4 Licence for at least 6 months (if under 25 years old) or at least 3 months (if over 25 years old). You will also need to have some experience driving a Class 4 vehicle.
A Class 5 Licence enables you to drive a combination vehicle with a gross combined weight of more than 25,000kg. When you pass your Full Class 5 Licence you will also obtain your Class 3 Licence. Refer Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999, Schedule 3.
The course consists of:
-full day logbook course (if you have not completed one for driver
licensing purposes in the previous 12 months).
-half day Class 5 Learner Licence training and sitting
Class 5 Learner Licence.
-half day Class 5 theory training i.e. truck loading,
handling, stability etc.
-4 hours practical training and assessment. Own vehicle
required.
